Diversity Training: Student’s Role in Fostering and Recognizing Differences in a Diverse Sphere 

This training is custom designed for the needs of the group and or institution.   

 

The facilitator will incorporate discussions and activities encompassing introducing students to the various ways people form their identities, including ability, age, class, color, ethnicity, gender identity, national origin, political beliefs, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, status as a veteran, tribal citizenship. The facilitators will increase awareness of some of the ways that privilege and various forms of advantage can connect to differences.  Implicit bias, stereotype danger, cultural dissonance, and attributional ambiguity will also be discussed.

 

The training will include self-reflective practices and safe space for conversation with other students of different identities while working to build cognitive empathy.
