What is Therapy?

From the moment we are born, we begin absorbing everything in our environment. Our subconscious mind starts forming as it is shaped by early experiences, emotions, and surroundings. These initial impressions and learned patterns are stored, playing a pivotal role in shaping our behavior and influencing decision-making throughout life.

As we grow, we begin to explore and understand the wide range of emotions we are capable of experiencing. Through these experiences, we discover the transformative power of change and how challenges, such as pain and distress, can foster significant personal growth and the development of inner strength.

As we mature, we come to realize that life’s complexity often depends on our perspective and choices. Along the way, we may encounter both the joys and challenges of interpersonal relationships. At times, we may seek support or guidance to navigate the obstacles we face.

We come to understand that life is not meant to be navigated alone. Numerous resources are available to enrich our journey and help us embrace our potential as creators we are designed to be —drawing on the wisdom of elders, the support of faith, family, and friendships. At times, when faced with chaos, pain, confusion, or the need for clarity, seeking therapy can provide valuable guidance and support.

What is therapy? Therapy includes all the modalities & methods used to create healing in one or more dimensions of well-being (emotional, social, physical, financial, occupational, etc). Therapy often includes the support of a therapist & can be done individually or in groups. The goal is to provide an environment, support, & the tools for healing and growth. As a therapist, it is a sacred privilege to serve people in this way.

Dr. Kelly Holder

I think therapy is so many things all at once…

It’s a response to a feeling of misalignment .

It’s a commitment to self-care and wellbeing.

An active effort to heal.

Most of all I think it’s personal...A journey that ebbs and flows that may have a marked beginning but doesn’t necessarily have to have an end.

Dr. Renata Williams

Therapy is a way to improve one’s emotional, psychological, and behavioral well being. It’s mental exercise that strengthens our psyche and mind while improving mental health and building healthy coping strategies.

J Davis

Therapy is a guided process of self-discovery in which a person can feel safe in a structured environment, allowing the individual the ability to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Therapy allows an individual the enjoyment of experiencing a no judgement zone which encourages them to enhance their self-awareness and promote personal growth through self-exploration.
