Defeating Discord: Leadership’s Role in Fostering Equity and Understanding
Navigating higher education as a minority student presents unique systemic and emotional challenges. "SELAH: Students Engaged in Listening and Hope" is a specialized, custom-designed support and healing space built explicitly for students of color, particularly those attending Predominately White Institutions (PWIs). Available both in-person and virtually via Zoom, these monthly, quarterly, or semester-based sessions are facilitated by licensed, trained mental health clinicians.
SELAH provides a culturally responsive, safe environment where students can process academic stress, racial battle fatigue, and personal frustrations. Rather than just a discussion group, our clinicians equip students with psychological coping mechanisms, resilience tools, and empowering encouragement to foster academic and emotional success.
